- Hi all,
-
- well - here I am. I've got myself a ZIP drive, and am attempting to get it to work with my
- A1200. I've installed the "SCSI+" board from Expansion Systems (you know, the one that claims to
- adapt your IDE header so that you can use 5 SCSI devices?), and am having absolutely no luck in
- accessing the drive.
-
- I've called tech support at both companies, and although it took a while, Oregon
- Research (the American distibuter of Hisoft products, and the ZipTools) was pretty helpful.
- Expansion systems really didn't help me much (they did offer to replace what might be a bad board
- with a new one though).
-
- At any rate, here's the deal. I've reinstalled both software packages twice, and am sure I
- have the board installed correctly. What I want to know is, does anyone, anyone at all have a
- similar setup? What did you do to get it to work?
-
- I've told the ZipTools to use ExpXDS.device, and tried just about any number of the little
- widgets Expansion systems included with their software. However - upon scanning my SCSI chain
- for valid LUNs, the ZIP drive never shows up (be it unit 5 or 6). I can attempt to mount the drive as
- ZIP0:, and when I attempt to access it, the machine claims it's not a valid DOS device. I check the
- SCSI chain after mounting, and it still doesn't show up. The ZipTools commodity won't run, and I
- have no luck accessing it as a device through HDTools, the Prep software supplied with Expansion
- Systems hardware... I know the SCSI+ isn't an auto configuring piece of hardware.
-
- What I need from someone with a similar setup is this... Where in the startup-sequence
- do you issue which SCSI+ commands (I'm thinking I need to use SCSIplus, and DFMount, and
- maybe CheckDC). Given that, is there anything else I should set in the ZIP0 mountlist (yes, I'm
- telling it to use the ExpXDS.device, and the correct unit number). PLEASE HELP ME!
-
- My other option is merely to buy some other SCSI adapter (SQUIRREL, or see If I can get
- a SCSI header for my expansion board) suggestions?
-
- HELLP!
